Dr Sue Thistlethwaite has made a lifetime of committing herself to the art and science of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Graduating in Medicine at the University of Melbourne, she went on to become the first female to be accepted to train in the Australian plastic and reconstructive surgery training program. In 1985, she gained a surgical fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery (FRACS).
Dr Thistlethwaite has had a busy and successful cosmetic surgery practice for 20 years. She keeps up to date with the latest procedures by reading extensively and regularly attending meetings and workshops -- both in Australia and overseas.
Her dedication to her craft has shown, as the majority of patients seeking treatment at Dr Thistlethwaite’s practice come as a result of recommendations from previous patients. This website is the first and only form of advertising Dr Thistlethwaite has ever used.
Her philosophy is that patients should be met with a friendly, non-intimidating environment when considering plastic or reconstructive surgery. She also firmly believes that patients should be seen at all consultations – both pre- and post-operative – by the surgeon, who is the only one trained to accurately assess her patients’ requests or perceived problems and can present all the options for treatment in the correct perspective. The surgeon is also the only one trained in the possible complications that are most relevant to a patient given his or her age, build, medical condition, and other relevant factors.
Dr Thistlethwaite is a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons.
